The Langley Rivermen handed the Express an 8-3 loss in the opening game of the pre-season for both teams.
The hosts had a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Colton Kerfoot scored his first of two on the night early in the second period on the powerplay banging home the rebound of a Brett Supinski shot off the end boards.
The score was 6-1 Langley after 40 minutes.
The teams traded goals in the third period with each team scoring twice. That included Kerfoot's second of the night with a shot off the wing.
Ian Derochie and Jeff Veitch split the goaltending duties equally.
The teams will go at it again Saturday night in Coquitlam at 7pm.
