The BCHL had it's first ever draft of 15 year old affiliate players today. The purpose being for all 16 clubs can select one player in each of the two rounds to be affiliate players for this season. The draft order was determined in reverse order based on last seasons regular season standings. The Express had the 5th and 21st picks.
With their first pick they selected Coquitlam native defenceman Viktor Dombrovskiy. This season he plays with the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs of the BC Major Midget League. Dombrovskiy stands 5'10 and weighs in at 170lbs.
In round two the Express selected forward Tyler Sandhu. He is skating this season with the Greater Vancouver Canadians of the BC Major Midget League. The Richmond native stands 5'9 and weighs 145lbs.
The players rights selected in this draft will not be retained by their drafted club at the end of the 2011-12 season.
The Powell River Kings exercised their right to pass and didn't select a player in both the first and second rounds. The Cowichan Valley Capitals passed on their second round pick 19th overall.
