Former Express (06-08) captain Brad Hunt has done nothing but impress the Edmonton Oiler brass during training camp. So much so Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins has had a really tough time to keep his very high praise a little subdued and subtle.
Sunday after the Oilers final cuts following their game Saturday night in Vancouver Hunt learned he will be starting the season in Edmonton.
His ability to work the power play has been one of the main areas that has caught the attention of Dallas Eakins.
Hunt made his NHL debut last season playing three games last season in Edmonton in January. He spent the majority of the season last year with the Oilers AHL affiliate in Oklahoma City where he had a fantastic season. He was 5th among AHL defenceman with 50 points while finding the back of the net 11 times. He was recognized at the end of the season by being named a second team all star.
Edmonton will open their season Thursday at home to Calgary.
