CRAZY EIGHT'S FOR RIVERMEN OVER EXPRESS

The Langley Rivermen defeated the Express for a second straight night by an 8-3 score in exhibition play.

Zac Masson on the powerplay and Kevan Killistoff shorthanded opened up a 2-0 Langley lead. Josh Smith got the Express on the board potting home the rebound of a shot from the right wing by Carson Rose.

The second period saw Langley strike 6 times in the first 11 minutes to pull away from Coquitlam.  Evan Anderson leading the way with a pair of goals.

The final 20 minutes saw the Express put a dent into the Rivermen lead. Brendan Lamont converted a Daniel Lange set up for a power play goal.  And that was followed up 1:39 later with Peter Matthews scoring the final goal of the evening.

Jeff Veitch split the crease with Jeff Salinas who only allowed one goal in the final 30 minutes of action.

Saturdays contest saw three returning veterans Jackson Cressey, Josh Smith, Brendan Lamont dress for the Express. 

Langley outshot the Express by a 26-24 margin.

The exhibition resumes for the Express Tuesday night when they host the Surrey Eagles at the Port Coquitlam recreation complex.
